We see seed saving as an integral part of our food production system both on our farm and society as a whole. Mostly all of the food we eat starts from a seed which seems so simple but is actually very complex and generally carries decades to centuries of genetic history.
Here on our farm we use a variety of types of seed in our vegetable production including our own farm grown seed as well as seeds from other Nova Scotian growers, which are open pollinated and heirloom varieties. Due to market demand and the need to diversify our market vegetable production we also use seed from larger companies. When we do this we try our best to order certified organic seed.
